It's finally official and I can finally let everyone know! The Big Gay Ice Cream Cookbook (aka The Big Gay Ice Cream Yearbook) is for realz and it will be coming out in 2014. I am super excited that I get to photograph the WHOLE book! I'm pretty damn sure we all will have a damn great time working on this. Can't wait to start this.
Blabbering
My New Addiction
This is my current obsession, the plate of chili sesame noodles at No Name Bar by Chef Lindsay Salminen in Greenpoint. While I find the noodles to be a little bit too al dente (not your usual silky and smooth noodles from Chinese joints), I do love the sesame flavor, the SUPER wideness of the noodles and the seasonal greens on top. Also the intimate feeling I get while sitting at the counter directly outside of the kitchen.
One of my dream is to go to Japan during winter time. Find a random ramen cart, get a bowl of ramen and slurp away while it is snowing outside. So the basement of a bar in Greenpoint is far from being a roadside ramen cart in Japan but it'll do for now until I get my butt over to Japan.
The Day Is Yours
It is. Lately I've been getting so much crappy news....news that I actually have no control over. The obvious thing to do is to be sad, angry, gloomy and all around pessimistic (well I'm always pessimistic). But then I think to myself, no matter how I feel, it's not going to change anything. So why not turn it around and be positive. Do something creative. MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!
The day is what you make of it so why not make it a good one. Life is definitely short and sometimes unexpectedly shorter.
Clouds And Ice Cream
This past Sunday I got to hang out with Doug and Bryan of Big Gay Ice Cream at the Fort Hamilton Army Base 4th of July Celebration. Though while many of the event goers were busy watching the show and filling their tummy with ice cream and wafels and pizzas, I pretty much was just staring at the sky. That day the clouds were just so incredible! I love clouds. I think I can spend a whole day just looking at them.
The night ended with fireworks and the Superman theme song playing along with the fireworks. Nothing says Happy Birthday to America like the Superman theme song.
