Couple weekends ago, Howard, Molly and I had a pickling party. Things us Brooklyn people do on random Saturdays. We pickled some regular veggies like bell peppers, onions, carrots..etc. But we also went a little crazy and pickled some Brussels sprouts and apples. Molly did a batch of pickled eggs a week before and they came out pretty good (pickled eggs and fried chicken go well together).
Liddabit Sweets Candy Cookbook launch party at 61 Local, Brooklyn.
Congratulations again to my friends, Jen and Liz, to their candy cookbook launching this week. Hopefully my roommates will not mind the smell of caramel in the apartment.
This past Monday was the Food52 Piglet Party. For people that don't know the Piglet, it's basically having cookbooks go head to head with one another till you have only one book left. Each round there are judges picking which book to move onto the next bracket. In the end Alice Waters picked Joe Beef over Momofuku Milk Bar.
The party was loads of fun. I got to see some old friends, few new acquaintances and shook hands with an idol (SARA JENKINS OF PORCHETTA!!)
I also found out about the Craft Coffee and SoCo Creamery (ARGH their espresso chip ice cream was so good).
